Jarvis Cocker is a pretty fascinating guy to watch. I mean, in a broader, overall career sense, as well as in the way he moves around a stage. His band Pulp were my favourite band from the time they put out Different Class to even a couple of years after their last record together. I usually get bored of things, but I can keep coming back to their records and I think I’ve actually posted about them before. His solo career is gathering a bit of momentum after a pretty shit debut, with his second LP actually managing to have some really great tracks (like Further Complications, above).
I get the feeling he’s going to really hit his stride on the next record. When I saw him in Perth last year, he was playing like he had something to prove. In Perth. Love this city as I do, we’re hardly a primary market. His live show really shows the stregnth of his songs, he’s a really great storyteller.
I’m stopping myself from ranting too hard on this, because I really do adore this guy. I could watch him sing all day.
