Bondage

I’m kind of a sucker for James Bond title themes. They’ve been getting a bit shit lately, but up to and including Madonna’s Die Another Day (a track seemingly hated by everyone except me) I dig most of them.

One of my favourites was Sheryl Crow’s Tomorrow Never Dies. Don’t get me wrong, Sheryl Crow is responsible for some truly awful shit. But if you dig through her LP’s and particularly her soundtrack contributions (as I had cause to before I had a decent record collection), she has a few gems. On The Outside from the X-Files soundtrack is angsty but musically understated and her Bond theme is distinctively slick and broody.

You’ll notice I haven’t posted it though. That’s because I just heard the song Pulp submitted for the theme and it’s about a million times better. Someone has done us the service of synching it to the opening sequence of the film. They must have had a hard time choosing between these two and then from memory American trip-hop act Supreme Beings Of Leisure submitted Nothing Like Tomorrow, which was only OK but still shits on Chris Cornell’s musical abortion from Casino Royale.

Anyway, have a listen. It’s something to do.
