Holy shit. Watching the new Lady Gaga clip for the first time, it almost has that same, alien-feeling, “this can’t possibly be a hit but it has to be” sensation that I’ve felt watching what have gone on to be absolutely massive pop songs like Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head or U2’s The Fly.

I say almost, because it still feels like Gaga is holding back her inner freak. This is a still more conventional than I think she wants to be and it draws way too heavily on her formula (trancey strings, singsongy bridges etc). It definately points to a time when she’s going to really let her freak out though, and I think that’s when she’ll really hit her stride. But in the meantime this track and video is going to be absolutely fkn massive and, if it’s anything like this, the live show is going to be amazing.
