Ahhhhh, Ellen Allien. Probably one of my favourite producer/DJ’s ever. She deals in increasingly sparse, spacious techno these days, which I’ve grown to love. Particularly tonight, as I’ve had Shock One’s brain-melting d&b tune Polygon in my head all night and it’s made it hard for me to sleep. Allien’s last album Sool is fucking great at lulling me into a sleepy state, it’s so sparse it’s pretty much just the gentle suggestion of rhythms.

Her earlier work is what first got my interest though; her album Berlinette is one of my favourite things ever - it’s pretty much as perfect a meeting point of techno and pop music as I’ve ever heard. This track, Trash Scapes, is one of my favourites from that, but it maybe doesn’t have the same sense of fun that I hear in quite a lot of the rest of the album. Anyway, have a listen.
