I’m going to see Marilyn Manson tomorrow night at Challenge Stadium. I’m not sure how excited I am about that yet. I’ve seen him live twice; during the first time at the Big Day Out, he got hit in the head by a bottle and proceeded to rant at the crowd for half an hour, so that sucked. The second time was on his last album tour, and it was surprisingly good, though it felt a bit lacking in punch. It could have been the Perth audiences though; in the seated section, everybody around me was totally motionless while we moshed to The Beautiful People. It’s hard to feed off that kind of lack of energy.
Actually, after the last time he was here, we went down to sit in the audience for Telethon after the show and saw Nikki Webster. It was pretty much the best contrast ever.
He did this tune last time he was here and it was most, most excellent;
My dear friends Fear Of Comedy are playing the support slot, which will be their first major show since they broke up a couple of years ago on a messy, messy tour we did together to Melbourne. Wierd shit went down, we partied too hard, fists were smashed into windows and a band broke up. Apart fromt the fact that I’m psyched to hear they’ve gotten back together, it’s going to be awesome to hear their dirty garage goth rock in a stadium. This is some live footage from one of the shows on that tour. Apologies for the shitty sound but it gives you an idea.
