This is Son Of Dave. He’s a delightful englishman I met when we lapped Australia together as part of the Big Day Out’s Lilyworld. He plays harmonica, beatboxes and sings, looking the whole thing through a loop pedal to create booming, dancetastic music. He’s also a very strange man.
This is him covering Dizee Rascal’s pretty lame track Bonkers. It’s a good introduction to what he does, but look him up on Youtube, his original stuff is pretty amazing too. He does what most of my favourite performers do; when he’s setting up, everybody is like “what the hell is this?, this is gonna suck…” but by halfway through his set, everybody’s dancing, loving it and talking to each other about how it’s unlike anything else they’ve ever seen.
